The Washington Capitals enter the Stanley Cup playoffs for the fourth consecutive season, all of which have ended in heartbreak and misery. This year is a supposed year of vengeance, where they come back and run the table when nobody expects them to, finally shaking the playoff demons and ending the sports curse over the city of Washington, D.C. Opposing the Capitals is fellow cursed franchise, the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Blue Jackets have never won a playoff series in their franchise history (0-3), and have won a combined four games in all three series, never going to a game seven.
The Blue Jackets are the hottest team in the NHL entering the postseason, and Artemi Panarin and crew are hoping that momentum will be enough to carry them into round two for the first time.
