Arsenal took care of business in the first leg of their Europa League quarterfinals against CSKA Moscow. The Gunners scored four goals in the first 35 minutes, ultimately holding on for a 4-1 win. Alexandre Lacazette and Aaron Ramsey both scoring twice in the first leg and will again be counted on by Arsenal in the second leg. CSKA are in a deep hole as the second leg moves to Moscow. The Russian side need to win by at least three goals if they are going to advance to the semifinal.

Viktor Goncharenko’s side enter the second leg with a three-goal deficit to make up. CSKA need to be aggressive if they want to come back. Aleksandr Golovin scored CSKA’s lone goal on a free kick in the first leg. For the Russian side to advance to the semifinals, they need Vitinho to find the back of the net. The Brazilian has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season.

With only six games remaining in the Premier League season, Arsenal are sixth, 13 points behind Tottenham for the final Champions League spot. Given their position in the Premier League, Arsene Wenger has turned his focus to the Europa League as Arsenal’s route to the Champions League. Wenger will likely use a defensive gameplan as Arsenal look to hold onto their lead. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being cup-tied has helped Arsenal in the Europa League as it forces Wenger to rotate his squad. Aubameyang has started in the Premier League, allowing Lacezatte to be rested for the Europa League.
