FanDuel MLB lineup and picks for Thursday, April 12
Catcher/First Base, High End Spend
Hanley Ramirez, $3,400
.357/.357/.643 with 1 HR in 14 at-bats
The way the Red Sox have been swinging the bats, a full stack might be in order tonight. Even if that’s not the route we go, the price is simply too cheap. Ramirez is hitting well over .350, he’s stealing bases every now and again, and he’s in the heart of the Boston order. The BvP data is in his favor and Ramirez doesn’t really have any big splits depending on the pitcher handedness. Gray has struggled in his 14 2/3 innings pitched in Fenway, to the tune of giving up an OPS over .900 and a wOBA of .395. It could be a short night for the Yankee righty.
Also Consider – Gary Sanchez, $3,400
Mid-Range
Buster Posey, $3,100
N/A
The Giants aren’t scoring a ton of runs right now but it’s not because Buster Posey isn’t doing everything he can. He’s just a shade under .400 for his batting average and even though he’s facing a righty, he’s a great hitter. His career splits against righties would be a great career on their own. He’s accumulated a batting average of .300, an OPS of .810 and a wOBA of .351. Mitchell is a risky GPP play since he’s only ever pitched 109 innings in the big leagues. Posey could take advantage of that inexperience.
Also Consider – Eric Hosmer, $3,200
Value
Joe Mauer, $2,800
.333/.333/.667 with 0 HR in 3 at-bats
Mauer is basically the definition of a professional hitter and he draws a pitcher who can’t strike anyone out on the best side of his splits. Against righties, Mauer has a .318 batting average and a .378 wOBA. He truthfully doesn’t carry a lot of power upside at this point in his career but he can easily rack up a three hit night with RBI and run potential. Opposing pitcher Lucas Giolito has been totally average so far in his MLB career. While he’s a touch more expensive than the normal value play, he could easily pay off the tag.
Also Consider – Brandon Belt, $2,400
