James Bond news and notes: Daniel Craig co-hosts event, talks Bond
By David Pegram
Daniel Craig and wife Rachel Weisz co-hosted a gala at Cipriani, on April 9, on behalf of The Opportunity Network, an educational non-profit organization.
Craig is donating his Aston Martin Vanquish (serial number 007) to be auctioned at Christie’s, with all proceeds going to the organization. At the event Craig confirmed that Bond 25 is next on his calendar. When asked about Danny Boyle’s involvement, he smiled and quipped, “We’ll see.” Indeed, we will. In August, 2017, while promoting Logan Lucky, Craig had already confirmed that he would be returning for Bond 25. But it is good to know that the recent shakeup at MGM is not changing those plans.
In other news:
More on the Bond 25 front: Naomie Harris, who appears in Rampage opposite Dwayne Johnson, is uncertain of her status as Moneypenny. When asked if she would be starring in the next Bond film, Harris said, ““Let’s hope so. I would be very disappointed not to be. I would love to, absolutely.” Note, of course, that Harris appeared in Danny Boyle’s film 28 Days Later. So there’s hope.
Soon-Tek Oh, who played Lt. Hip in The Man with the Golden Gun, passed away on April 4th, at the age of 45. Oh’s credits include a number of television appearances. He also brought vocal talents to the role of Fa Zhou in Disney’s animated film Moulan.
