NBA Moms are even more amazing than previously thought

HOUSTON, TX - APRIL 5: James Harden

A GQ profile on MVP-favorite James Harden revealed that NBA mom meetings are very much a thing.

Previously on The NBA is the Greatest Sport on Earth, NBA Moms were just as exceptional, better than the moms in other sports. Like their sons, the best NBA Moms have embraced both visibility and social media that is somewhat unique to the NBA to become endearing and delightful characters beyond any on-court exploits that are also, in a word, delightful. And much as our their large adult sons may love their players-only meetings, so, too, according to James Harden, do the moms love their moms-only meetings — no NBA stars allowed.

In a cover story in GQ — appropriately timed for both the playoffs, for which Harden’s Rocket have the No. 1 seed, and the MVP award, for which Harden is the favorite — Harden revealed (presumably, not joking) that NBA moms will hang out with each other regardless of the relationship (or lack thereof) between their players sons.

About midway through the story, the writer (and former GQ executive editor) Devin Gordon gets into it, by way of Harden’s desire to spend more time with his mom, Monja Willis, and his pleasure that she is thriving in the NBA life:

"Willis is one of a bumper crop of delightful NBA moms, led by Draymond Green’s mom, Mary Babers-Green, and Kevin Durant’s “real MVP,” Wanda. They are funny, salty, ferociously protective of their sons, and living their best lives on Instagram. “My mom—she hangs out with, like, moms of other players that I don’t even talk to,” Harden says, amused. How does that happen?“There are mom meetings, things like that.”You’re joking, right?“No, I’m serious. Mom meetings. That makes me happy, ’cause they get to talk about their sons behind our backs. She deserves that.”"

What must we do for a reality TV show about NBA Mom Meetings? Actually, no, no. Scratch that. The NBA Mom Meeting is pure and good and should never be
