After a short clip of games started off the 2018 NHL playoffs on Wednesday, the action continues tonight with a full slate of five. Take a look below for more coverage.

The NHL playoffs started with some bangs, a blowout and a few swats, notably by some

player named Crosby. We’re still checking for his first name, but there’s a feeling he could be a nice multi-talent in hockey. Let us look into and get back with you on that. Tonight’s lineup could offer even more oohs and wows as the Nashville Predators step onto the ice for Game 1 against the Colorado Avalanche.

On the Predators side, they were the best team in the NHL. That’s not simply an opinion; The league gives out trophies for it (trophies for everything). Although, Nashville went ahead and cursed themselves so that’s a new story to watch for. Overall, the team finished with an absurd 117 points. They were not only great at home, but their road record is near equal at 25-9-7. Colorado is going to have their hands full if they hope to steal one tonight.

For Colorado, they’re coming into this one riding a wave of good vibes after they clawed their way to the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. And while they proffer out an excellent home record (28-11-2), their road game leaves a lot to be desired at 15-19-7.

In the season series, Nashville swept the Avs pretty handily, outscoring them 17-8. But don’t expect to see a blowout like we saw last night in Pittsburgh. This is going to be a dandy of a series from the start.

Players to Watch

For Colorado: Nathan MacKinnon

MacKinnon’s star is not only rising in the NHL, it’s become gosh darn meteoric. Once the Avs decided to part ways with Matt Duchene, MacKinnon became one of the absolute best players in hockey. He missed eight games this year and still put up 97 points and 39 goals. Not to mention he also put up 10 points in 7 playoff games back in 2014. He was a rookie. If Colorado comes out of this series alive, he will be the number one reason. We’ll be watching to see how he begins this years campaign. Maybe he’ll even one-up Sid the Kid.

For Nashville: The D-corp

The Predators rely heavily on their defense to win them games. It isn’t the sole reason they won the President’s Trophy, but it’s close. They also have stud goaltender Pekka Rinne, but the numbers in the regular season series don’t lie. Their big three on the blue line of P.K. Subban, Roman Josi, and Ryan Ellis combined for 11 points in four games. If the Avs want to make this a contest to last, they will have to come up big and shut down one of the best defensive groups the league can bring.
