77. . G. Oregon. Troy Brown. 13. player

It is sort of disappointing for us as viewers that we did not get to see Brown pair with Bol Bol to bring the Ducks back to relevance after a disjointed season ended in the NIT this year. Brown’s smooth athleticism would have been an interesting pairing with Bol’s 3-and-D big man style. But boy would it have been fun to watch.

In the end, Brown made the right decision to leave school and continue his development as part of an NBA team. He showed brief flashes throughout his freshman season as a passer and scorer but ultimately failed to put it all together in any one game. His role will be very small early on.

Defensively, Brown could be a difference-maker quickly. He looks the part of a perfect wing stopper, long and quick-footed with the wide frame to contain dribble penetration and absorb contact. The problem is the draft, and NBA competition are not about the appearance of talent, but rather talent itself, as well as production. Can Brown become a valuable, productive player at the next level?
