player. 20. . G. Wichita State. Landry Shamet. 25

Shamet and the Lakers are a match I just can’t shake. The fit relies on the Lakers’ biggest plans coming together this offseason, but it would also mean Shamet could be the Mario Chalmers for whichever stars Los Angeles is able to woo this summer.

The most shocking statistic when it comes to Shamet’s junior season was his incredibly low usage. He finished just 21 percent of possessions while he was on the floor for Wichita State this year. That number was supported by a strong assist percentage and low turnovers, but it’s remarkable Shamet was able to lead the best offense in the nation in Offensive Box Plus-Minus while using so few possessions.

As we saw when Shamet played co-star to Shaq Morris this season, Shamet has ultimate role player potential as a defender at the point of attack and play-maker. He will be a more impactful defender in the NBA, when his long arms will clog passing lanes against the pick-and-roll and potentially allow him to guard bigger wings in a pinch.

Regardless of what happens, Shamet has elite role player potential and the Lakers could find another steal at the end of the first round if they take him.
