5. Stoke keep survival chances alive with win over West Ham

Stoke are also in the relegation zone, but they have a little bit more promise about their situation. The Potters have looked better since Paul Lambert took over and were a little unfortunate once again as they lost to Tottenham last weekend.

Their match this week falls on Monday as they travel to the London Stadium to face a West Ham side that are in a good run of form. A draw would probably be considered a reasonable result for the Potters but Lambert really needs all three points this weekend.

The good news for Stoke is that Southampton and West Brom both have difficult matches which they aren’t likely to win. That gives Paul Lambert’s side an opportunity to gain ground on Crystal Palace, who are only four points ahead in 17th place.

West Ham will prove a tough side to beat, especially considering their strong performance at Stamford Bridge last weekend. The Hammers aren’t necessarily safe themselves but they should just avoid relegation.

A win would affirm this and David Moyes will fancy his side’s chances of getting it against Stoke. However, Paul Lambert will be victorious in the battle of the Scottish managers and Stoke will give themselves a better chance of Premier League survival.
