The Dallas Cowboys released long time star wide receiver Dez Bryant earlier Friday, and there are already theories about him going to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Dez Bryant is now officially a free agent, and teams are likely going to be very interested in the former Cowboys star. There’s plenty of debate to be had about just how good Bryant still is, as he’s suffered a myriad of injuries in his career and didn’t have the best season in 2017.

The soon to be 30-year-old receiver hasn’t eclipsed 1,000 yards or scored more than eight touchdowns the past three years. Still, he’s bound to help some team out there.

Bleacher Report is already (somewhat jokingly, we think) suggesting that he should go play for the rival Philadelphia Eagles.

Bryant may not be the alpha receiver he used to be, but he has plenty of gas left in the tank. Putting him in an innovative offense like Philly would surely be a big boost in the later stages of his career. For his part, Bryant wasn’t exactly thrilled with how the release went down and is already openly talking about potentially playing the Cowboys twice next season.

That sure would be a very interesting fit for Bryant. The Eagles will be looking to defend their Super Bowl title in 2018 and should get quarterback Carson Went back from a torn ACL sometime during the season. The receiving corps boasts Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor and Mike Wallace, and they use tight end Zach Ertz like a receiver. Throwing Dez Bryant into that mix as another option would really make that offense deadly.

When a player like Bryant feels he has been personally slighted and given up on way too early, it can create an extra motivated player coming into the following season. Even if Bryant doesn’t stay in the NFC East, he could be primed to have a monster year in 2018.
