Looking forward to Game 2 on Friday in Las Vegas, the Los Angeles Kings will look to bounce back from a disappointing Game 1 where they were unable to score a single goal.

Respect should be paid to the first year expansion Vegas Golden Knights. They look like a veteran team at this point.

If you missed Game 1 in this series, you don’t want to miss Game 2. Here’s all the information you need to tune in:

Health

Some of the questions going into Game 2 of this first-round playoff series is the health of a couple of the key players on the L.A. Kings.

Early in the first period of Game 1 defenseman, Drew Doughty appeared to have discomfort in his lower body after taking a slash from pesky Will Carrier. Later in the game, Doughty leveled a questionable hit on Carrier requiring, him to leave the ice. Doughty has been suspended for Game 2 of the quarterfinals. Dustin Brown blocked a shot just below the knee early in the first and Limped off to the dressing room but later returned. There definitely will be some after effects of that shot that was blocked moving forward into Game 2.

Faster pace

The Kings looked slow at times, almost lethargic. The one outstanding speedster who showed up all game was center Adrian Kempe. The Kings’ third line leader had speed all night ,and all that was missing was a tally for the first year player. The Knights, however, look like the team they have been the entire season — confident, quick, overpowering with speed at times and also some added grit, not necessarily the strong part of their game during the regular season.

In fact, the Vegas play in Game 1 looked more like the Kings of Stanley Cup runs past — very physical and seemingly winning every single 50-50 puck battle. The Kings simply have to find some team speed in Game 2 or they may find themselves down 0-1 in this series heading home.

For the Golden Knights, it’s simple: play exactly the way you played in Game 1, perhaps trying to score more than one goal and try to keep the physical play up which can wear a team down in the playoffs.

The Kings’ big questions remain moving in the Game 2: Can they generate offense? Can they slow down the Golden Knights? The biggest player on the ice for the Kings that has to get going if the Kings want to win this series will be Jeff Carter.

Carter needs to be a factor in Game 2, along with his linemates, Tyler Toffoli and Tanner Pearson. They need to find a way to slow down the Knights and generate odd man rushes utilizing Carte and Pearson’s speed.
