Jets vs. Wild live stream, Game 2: TV schedule, online and more
By Adam Stocker
The Winnipeg Jets host the Minnesota Wild in Game 2 of their first-round series. Here’s everything you need to know to watch.
The Winnipeg Jets won Game 1 3-2 to a game one game lead into Game 2 of their first-round series against the Minnesota Wild. In the first game, Minnesota led 2-1 early in the third period but could not hold on for the win, allowing the Jets to come back.
Winnipeg made life easy for goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who was making his first playoff start. The Jets defense did a great job preventing Minnesota from getting shots on goal. Dustin Byfuglien had a particularly good game, leading the Jets in playing time, getting five shots on goal and assisting on Mark Scheifele’s goal. The Jets offensive stars all delivered in the opening game of the series. If Winnipeg can get Bryan Little going, they will be very difficult to beat.
The Jets took 40 shots in Game 1, while the Wild managed only 20. The loss of Ryan Suter for the rest of the season was one of the main reasons that Minnesota allowed 40 shots. Suter averaged nearly 27 minutes per game in the regular season. Without Suter, Bruce Boudreau increased the playing time of Mathew Dumba and Jonas Brodin. If the Wild are going to even the series going back to the twin cities, they need their other two defensive pairings to play better and prevent the Jets from taking as many shots. Despite being the losing goalie, Devan Dubnyk played well in net and will need to play well again. Offensively, Minnesota needs to test Hellebuyck more often. Joel Eriksson Ek led the team with four shots. However, that was more shots than top six players Eric Staal, Nino Niederreiter, and Zach Parise had combined in game 1. If the Wild are going to win game 2, that needs to change.
