The Tampa Bay Lightning host the New Jersey Devils in Game 2 of their first-round series. Here’s everything you need to know to watch.
The Tampa Bay Lightning cruised to victory in game 1 of their first-round series against the New Jersey Devils, winning 5-2. The second game of the series is Saturday afternoon, as the Lightning look to take a commanding lead in the series.
Tampa was better in every aspect of game 1. Andrei Vasilevskiy had a strong game in net, stopping 29 of 31 shots. Offensively, Ondrej Palat had a goal and two assists in game 1, while Tyler Johnson and Yanni Gourde both had two points. If Tampa continues to get scoring from their bottom six forwards, they could make a deep playoff run.
Taylor Hall again carried the Devils in game 1. The Hart Trophy candidate scored a goal and had an assist. However, New Jersey failed to generate any secondary offense. Rookie Nico Hischier was on the team with 52 points but in game 1, failed to even get a shot on goal. Keith Kinkaid will need to be better in net for the Devils to win game 2, after allowing four goals on 31 shots in game 1. If Kinkaid doesn’t improve, John Hynes will have to consider starting Cory Schneider the rest of the series.

Marcus Johansson was activated from injured reserve by the Devils. Johansson missed most of the season with a concussion but would be a huge boost offensively if he is able to play.
