A slot needed to go to Brent Johnson for his out-of-this-world tribute to Led Zeppelin. There are many, many goalie masks that are painted with themes having zero to do with hockey, and this one is so good we might need to stop for a moment and crank up a little bit of No Quarter.

It’s not only a piercing piece of artwork, but Johnson clearly has a firm grip on good musical taste. Look at that detail. The Jimmy Page near his temple stares on as though the ’70s never died. We also can’t get over the awesome letter style of “Penguins” going across the jaw line to match the iconic Zeppelin font.

Some serious thought and creativity had to have gone into crafting a work so well done. Even while trying to come up with words to describe how Johnson may be a tad overzealous in his love for all things Page, Plant and gang, we can’t. Likely because there’s no possible way of going overboard in this scenario.

If only someone out there would step on to the pond with a staggering tribute to Pink Floyd painted on their dome, we might be set for life.

Dear lord, the other side is even better. And…we’re drooling now. Our Bics are lighted on this one, Brent. All for you, buddy. You’ve broken open the levees to our hearts and secured a place in FanSided history. We can guarantee that it doesn’t get much higher than that.
