Penguins vs. Flyers live stream, Game 2: TV schedule, online and more
By Adam Stocker
The Pittsburgh Penguins host the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 2 of their first-round series. Here’s everything you need to know to watch.
The Pittsburgh Penguins came out in Game 1 and destroyed their state rivals 7-0. Sidney Crosby scored a hat trick and Jake Guentzel had four points. The Flyers will have to play significantly better if they want to go back to Philadelphia with the series tied.
Everything went right for the Penguins in game 1. Pittsburgh scored less than three minutes into the game and ended the first period with a 3-0 lead. Matt Murray stopped all 24 shots he faced and looks like he will again be difficult to score on in the playoffs. The Penguins Stanley Cup run last season was without Kris Letang. With Letang healthy, Pittsburgh defense is deeper and Letang upgrades the Penguins’ breakout and power play.
Brian Elliott was awful in net for the Flyers, getting pulled after allowing five goals on 19 shots. Petr Mrazek came in and was only slightly better than Elliott but by that point, the game was already over. Dave Hakstol is leaning towards starting Elliott again and if he comes out and has another poor game, that could be the end of the series as the Flyers cannot have any confidence they can get the goaltending needed to win. Philadelphia’s top players were just as bad as Elliot in game 1. Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier, and Shane Gostisbehere were all -4 in game 1. For the Flyers to win game 2, everyone needs to be significantly better or they might not go back to Pittsburgh for game 5.
