1. Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins

Raise your hand if you had Sidney Crosby netting a hat trick in Game 1 of the Penguins’ series against the Philadelphia Flyers.

*Looks up, sees own hand raised*

That’s right; if you ask the team of hockey writers in the FanSided NHL Slack channel, they will confirm that when talking about a predictions article I threw out that Crosby would net a hat trick. Of course, it was a. kind of tongue-in-cheek, and b. I never would have assumed it would be a natural hat trick.

But there Crosby was, scoring three unanswered goals as the Penguins just absolutely dismantled the Flyers 7-0 in their first bout. Mercy is not a word that’s in this team’s vocabulary. Once thought impossible, the Penguins are demonstrating that a three-peat might be easy as pie for them this postseason.

The Flyers certainly aren’t going to stand in their way.
