Bayern Munich clinched the Bundesliga title with their 4-1 win last weekend over Augsburg. Jupp Heynckes side have won a Bundesliga record six consecutive league titles. On Saturday, Bayern host Borussia Monchengladbach at the Allianz Arena. Monchengladbach are eighth in the table, six points out of a Europa League spot.
Bayern Munich advanced to the Champions League semifinals for the seventh time since the 2009-10 season. With the league wrapped up, and some players banged up in Wednesday’s game against Sevilla, expect Jupp Heynckes to rotate his squad, giving reserve players a chance to pick up some minutes. Heynckes has routinely swapped up to seven regular starters out of his lineup and will likely do the same on Saturday. Niklas Sule, Sebastian Rudy, Sandro Wagner, Corentin Tolisso, and Thiago will likely start against Monchengladbach.
Borussia Monchengladbach have picked up points in five of their last six games. The Foals defeated Hertha Berlin 2-1 last weekend, giving them nine points in their last six games. Thorgan Hazard continues to get better for Gladbach, scoring a career-best nine goals and seven assists. Even if Bayern rest some of their stars, Monchengladbach’s back three will be tested. Matthias Ginter, Nico Elvedi, and Jannik Vestergaard are all tall, young and talented, giving the club a bright future looking towards next season.
