The Dash 4 Cash program is back in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, and we explain how it works for the 2018 season.

NASCAR XFINITY Series teams don’t cost quite as much money to run as their Cup Series counterparts, but they also don’t bring in nearly as much revenue from race results and sponsorships. So an extra $100,000 or two can be a big deal, and that’s exactly what the Dash 4 Cash program offers.

The Dash 4 Cash concept has been around for a while, but the changes NASCAR made to it for the 2018 season mean that it’s probably as simple to understand as it’s ever been. Here’s a quick walkthrough.

  • The races involved are four consecutive spring races: Bristol, Richmond, Talladega (which has never been a Dash 4 Cash race before) and Dover.
  • In each race, the top four XFINITY Series regulars are eligible to win a $100,000 bonus, with the highest finisher of the four winning the cash.
  • The four eligible drivers are determined by the winner of the bonus in the previous race, plus the top three XFINITY Series regulars from that race. The exception is at Bristol, where the eligible drivers were the top four series regulars from Texas.
  • No Cup Series drivers can compete in the 2018 Dash 4 Cash races, meaning there will be four consecutive XFINITY races with no one from the upper series participating.

Since the previous Dash 4 Cash bonus winner gets locked into eligibility the following week, it’s possible for one driver to win several bonuses, or even all four. That would be a big boon for any XFINITY Series team.

For those fans who would prefer not to see the Cup Series drivers dominate the lower series, the Dash 4 Cash races are exactly what you’re looking for, with some of NASCAR’s up and coming stars battling it out at some pretty exciting racetracks with higher than normal stakes. The Talladega race should be particularly unpredictable, so this should be an interesting four-week stretch for all involved.
