Bargain drivers (salary below $8,000)

Jamie McMurray ($7,000) – If you believe in momentum, McMurray has it after a shocking third-place finish at Texas — shocking because he had been so bad prior. He’s starting 30th and is likely to either move up a lot or wreck out in Stage 1. If we knew which, we’d be psychics instead of bloggers.

Bubba Wallace ($6,300) – This is more hunch than anything else since he’s a Cup Series rookie, but he has finished second at this track in the Truck Series and has some strong XFINITY Series finishes at the Last Great Colosseum as well. Bristol could be a track where his RPM car’s lack of straight line speed won’t matter as much.

Ty Dillon ($5,900) – Finished 15th in this race last year and has good XFINITY Series performances on his resume. If you are ever going to play him, this could be a spot for him, and he’s cheap.

David Ragan ($5,400) – Has not been strong in this race, though he has some good fall Bristol finishes and actually led one of the practice sessions. Plus, anyone cheaper than him is likely to be wrecked out or laps down, except for maybe …

Ross Chastain ($5,000) – This will be his first Cup Series Bristol start, but he just finished in the top 10 on Saturday. If you’ve got to go full Hail Mary, Chastain makes sense.
