With seven games remaining in Serie A, Juventus are four points ahead of Napoli as they chase their seventh straight title. With a game left between the two clubs, the title race is far from over. On Sunday, Juventus host Sampdoria at the Allianz Stadium. Sampdoria are eighth in Serie A with 48 but have fallen back in the race for a Europa League spot.
Juventus were eliminated by Real Madrid in Champions League on Wednesday. Despite their dominance in Italy, Juventus have failed to win the Champions League since 1996. Domestically, Juventus have been dominant. Since Nov. 26, Juve are unbeaten in 18 games, picking up 50 points and conceding only four goals. The Old Lady is second in Serie A with 74 goals. Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain have combined for 36 goals.
Sampdoria have struggled lately, picking up only one point in their last four games. Despite their recent struggles, Sampdoria have scored the fourth most goals in Serie A. At 35-years-old, Fabio Quagliarella is having the best season of his career, scoring a club-best 18 goals. However, the Sampdoria striker has slowed down in the second half of the season. Over his last eight games, Quagliarella has scored only twice. Colombian Duvan Zapata has scored 10 goals this season, starting next to Quagliarella in Marco Giampaolo’s front two.
