2. Accountant by day, goalie by night, Scott Foster steals the show
This is one of those stories that you hear about and you can’t even understand what kind of stars need to align in order for something like to this happen, but I digress.
Scott Foster is an accountant by day who signed up with the Chicago Blackhawks as an emergency third-string goalie in the event of both of the team’s goalies getting injured.
On March 29, the Blackhawks, who were already without starter Corey Crawford due to multiple injuries, lost second starter Anton Forsberg in warmups and backup Colin Delia with 14 minutes left in the third. They were forced to bring out Foster for the rest of the 6-2 win in what would go down as one of the greatest stories to come from this season.
Foster went on to face seven shots from the Jets, and in unbelievable fashion he stopped all seven, giving him a perfect career save percentage and goals against average.
Foster’s story spread like wildfire, and by the end of the game he was a living legend among the hockey community.
The story saw the community showering Foster with love and praise, and the moment turned into something special that many fans will talk about for years to come.
