The Washington Capitals head to Columbus, Ohio, in search of their first playoff win. Here is what to expect in Game 3 and how you can catch the game.

The Capitals desperately need a win in Game 3. The Toronto Maple Leafs, Minnesota Wild and New Jersey Devils all won their respective third games, the key difference being that they were playing at home. The Capitals travel to Columbus down two games to zero, searching for answers in what looks like yet another Caps playoff upset in the making.

Perhaps it has to do with the goalie situation in Washington, or perhaps one too many Capitals fans claimed that this was the Caps’ year. The Capitals are down two again and people are not surprised. The real reason probably has more to do with how well the Columbus Blue Jackets have been playing in the second half of the season.

Here’s how to watch the game:

Even though this is only the third game of the series, it might as well be an elimination game for Washington. The Caps are good, but the Blue Jackets will not lose four straight games. If Washington has one thing going for it, it’s that it has yet to play all of the cards in its hand.

2016 Vezina Trophy winner Braden Holtby has been on the bench in this series as the Caps were riding the hot hand of Philipp Grubauer. Holtby will presumably be starting Game 3 for the Capitals, and he needs to play better than he ever has to keep their hopes alive. Holtby has the pedigree and experience to do so.

Winning two away games after losing two at home is not unheard of. The Boston Bruins lost Games 1 and 2 to the Montreal Canadiens at TD Garden in Boston in 2011. The Bruins went on to win Games 3 and 4 in Montreal before closing out the Habs in seven and eventually winning the Stanley Cup. The Caps will look for similar magic for their game on Tuesday.
