Dez Bryant thinks the Giants would be ‘crazy’ to play for

ARLINGTON, TX - NOVEMBER 30: Dez Bryant

Dez Bryant teased that he’d be playing the Cowboys twice a year after they cut him, and it appears he has eyes on the New York Giants.

When the Dallas Cowboys cut Dez Bryant, he made them a promise. Twice a year Bryant and the Cowboys played NFC East divisional rivals, and now the receiver wants to experience that from the other side.

Dallas cut Bryant on Friday, ending one of the most entertaining yet frustrating eras in Cowboys history. There’s still something left in the tank, but the Cowboys won’t be finding out how much. Instead, Bryant is eyeing taking his talents to one of Dallas’ rivals and pretty much stated flat out what the most intriguing option is.

According to Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan, who spoke with Dez, the former Cowboys receiver pretty much stated his desire to sign with the New York Giants, in so many words.

"“The Giants got a helluva defense, they’re going to pay [Odell Beckham Jr.] Playing with him, Sterling Shepard, the tight end [Evan Engram], Eli Manning? Crazy,” Bryant said. “They draft (Penn State running back) Saquon Barkley with the No. 2 overall pick)? That’d be crazy!”"

Careful of reading too far into this, despite how easy that may be. Bryant isn’t directly lobbying for the Giants to sign him but he’s not making it hard for us to interpret this in such a way.

Let’s consider for a moment that this becomes a reality. Are you buckled up, because it’s going to be one helluva ride.

Bryant lining up alongside Odell Beckham Jr. each week has the makings of being something special for Eli Manning. Adding in Saquon Barkley to the mix only makes things more dangerous and that’s before considering New York has weapons in Sterling Sheppard and Evan Engram.

Pat Shurmur would earn every cent of his paycheck trying to keep the team from coming unglued, but if everything stays on the rails then there’s a decent chance Eli retires on top, hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.

And, of course, Dez can flash a middle finger towards Dallas and Jerry Jones — one with the shine of a Super Bowl ring on it.
