Welcome into the Tuesday edition of the FanDuel daily fantasy MLB column! We have another massive 12 game slate tonight so let’s dig in.

As always, let’s take a look at what happened last night before we get into what Tuesday looks like. After a deflating Saturday that saw our Angels stack get postponed for virtually no reason, we bounced back with a strong score of 174, thanks to Jacob DeGrom’s monster game. It was helped out by Trevor Story, C.J. Cron, and Odubel Herrera all putting balls into the seats. It felt good to be back where we belong, firmly in the money. Let’s get rolling for tonight!

Starting Pitcher, High End Spend

Corey Kluber, $11,400

.193(34 for 176), 30.6 strikeout rate

By some metrics, this would be a bad matchup for Kluber. Minnesota has been very good against righty pitching so far this season but this is Kluber we’re talking about. He’s one of the best in the game. His track record against the Twins speaks for itself and this is a situation where we can put some weight into those numbers. He’s approaching 200 at-bats against the Twins. Minnesota is actually fairly good against Kluber’s pitchers mix.  The cutter is the weakest spot and Kluber throws that pitch about 24.5 percent of the time. Good pitching can always beat bad matchups just like Jacob DeGrom did last night.

Also Consider – Gio Gonzalez, $8,700

Mid-Range

Patrick Corbin, $9,500

.283(69 for 244), 18.8 strikeout rate

Corbin just saw these Giants the last time out and the results were a little mixed. He ended up with a 34 point game but that included him falling apart in the fourth inning. He was dominant through the first five innings as he racked up seven strikeouts and only allowed two baserunners. That’s ace level stuff and he could definitely do it again today. The Giants are striking out just under 20 percent of the time but also have the third lowest wOBA against lefties in the league. Corbin has been throwing his slider as his main pitch and the Giants are 18th against it. Chase Field does favor hitters more than AT&T Park but Corbin is going to be a home favorite, have huge strikeout upside, and is almost $2,000 cheaper than Kluber.

Also Consider – Lance McCullers, $8,600(not the best matchup, but if he’s on he could be a GPP winner)

Value

Mike Foltynewicz, $7,400

.232(13 for 56), 32.3 strikeout rate

The young gun for the Braves draws a pretty positive matchup tonight. He gets the Phillies at home and they are in the bottom half of the league in OPS, ISO, and wOBA. They only rank 14th in batting average and are striking out 23.7 percent of the time, seventh most in MLB. The one part that looks like a bad matchup for Foltynewicz is the Phillies are top five against four seam fastballs. However, his fastball sits around 96 MPH and isn’t the run of the mill fastball. Foltynewicz has massive upside as long as we understand that his range of outcomes is wide tonight.

Also Consider – Trevor Williams, $6,800
