FanDuel Lineup and picks for Tuesday, April 17th
Second Base, High End Spend
Ian Kinsler, $3,800
.192/.250/.423 with 1 HR in 26 at-bats
Kinsler hasn’t been playing for very long so far this season as he landed on the disabled list with a leg injury to start the season. The Angels draw David Price tonight who himself left his last start injured. Price has a sparkling ERA and WHIP so far but some of the metrics point to trouble on the way for him. His strikeout rate is down, along with his velocity from last season. The velocity especially could be concerning because it’s about a 2-3 MPH dip. Price is also giving up fly balls 54.8 percent of the time and has been lucky to have a HR/FB rate of just 4.3 percent because his hard contact rate is up at 38.1. Price is going to get hammered sooner or later and the Angels might be the team to do it. Kinsler should leadoff a great lineup in Fenway this evening.
Also Consider – Jed Lowrie, $3,800
Mid-Range
Asdrubal Cabrera, $3,600
.235/.278/.235 with 0 HR in 36 at-bats
Cabrera is swinging a hot bat with points in 13 of his last 15 games. He’s also coming off a massive 30+ point effort last night. Gio Gonzalez is a good pitcher but Cabrera is hitting well over .350 so far this season and he’s hammered lefty pitching the past three seasons. His average, OPS, and wOBA have all increased in each of the past two full seasons and have started to this year as well. Somehow, he’s only the tenth most expensive option at the position this evening.
Also Consider – Scooter Gennett, $3,100
Value
David Robertson, $2,400
N/A
If you’re going the route of a punt at second base tonight, take a look at Robertson. He’s got goos splits against lefty pitching and as we documented when talking about Wilson Ramos, Matt Moore has really been scuffling. This also works in conjunction with Ramos if you’re looking to save money for Kluber tonight.
