NBA Playoffs 2018: Portland Trail Blazers vs. New Orleans Pelicans Game 2 live stream: Watch online
By Jason Patt
The Portland Trail Blazers will try to even up their first-round series with the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday after dropping Game 1 at home.
The Portland Trail Blazers finished the regular season as the surprise No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, but their postseason run got off to a rocky start with a 97-95 Game 1 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Blazers’ star backcourt of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum will look to flip the script in Tuesday’s Game 2 after a disappointing showing in the Game 1 defeat. Lillard and McCollum combined to make just 13 of their 41 field goal attempts as Portland shot 37.8 percent for the game. Lillard had a chance to take the lead with 15 seconds left to complete a huge comeback, but he badly missed a floater and the Pelicans escaped with the win.
Anthony Davis finally got a taste of postseason success thanks to the victory. Davis paced New Orleans with 35 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks in 41 active minutes. He provided multiple highlight-reel plays and looked the part of the best player in the series, though he was gassed coming down the stretch as the Pelicans held on for dear life.
While Davis was terrific overall, it was Jrue Holiday who played hero late in the game with a string of key defensive plays. Holiday’s defense against Portland’s stud backcourt was exemplary all game, but he really made his presence felt in the final minute with a steal, deflection and block.
Holiday’s backcourt partner, Rajon Rondo, showed off his “Playoff Rondo” persona by controlling the game with 17 assists. The backcourt battle will be fascinating to watch as this series goes on.

The Blazers can’t afford to drop two games at home before heading on the road to New Orleans. The good news is Lillard and McCollum should be better in Game 2, so expect a more prolific offensive showing. The Pelicans will have to step their game up even more if they want to grab another upset on the road.
