Flyers vs. Penguins live stream, Game 4: TV schedule, online and more
By Adam Stocker
The Philadelphia Flyers host the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 4 of their first-round series. Here’s everything you need to know to watch.
The Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins have traded blowout wins over the first three games of their series. The Penguins took a 2-1 series lead, winning 5-1 in Game 3. Pittsburgh took advantage of the power play in Game 3, scoring three goals with the man advantage. Sidney Crosby was masterful in Game 3, recording four points.
Brian Elliott was not good in Game 3, allowing five goals on 26 shots. If the Flyers are going to win the series, they need Elliott to play a lot better. In addition to needing Elliott to play better, Philadelphia also needs a lot more out of captain Claude Giroux. After a career year, Giroux has struggled in the playoffs, recording a single point. Philadelphia’s defense has produced 30 of the team’s 71 shots over the first three games. Getting 10 shots per game from the blue line is a big positive. However, having four forward lines averaging only 13.6 shots per game is too few. Philadelphia needs to get more productive games out of their forwards.
After an awful Game 2, Penguins goalie Matt Murray rebounded nicely in Game 3. Pittsburgh top two defensive pairings have played well this series and Mike Sullivan has leaned heavily on them. Kris Letang leads all defenseman on Pittsburgh in minutes, while Brian Dumoulin is second on the team with five points. While Crosby has been great in the series, Phil Kessel has been a disappointment. After a career season, Kessel only has one point and four shots. If the Penguins are going to three-peat, Kessel needs to have a bigger offensive impact.
