There’s danger in the skies above the Fortnite map, but does it really mean what many players seem to think?
One of the best part about Fortnite is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It certainly could, given that it’s a game where 100 people are all trying to kill each other to be the last one left alive, but it’s had it’s tongue firmly in cheek since the first player jumped out of the Battle Bus. Hence, stuff like challenges where you’ve got to dance on three different disco floors.
That’s why the latest in-game thing that’s got everyone talking is so fascinating. Meteors have been appearing in the skies above the Fortnite map, as well as a comet. Or rather, more than one comet.
Take a look in this video from YouTuber Pierce Morgan:
Epic Games clearly has the aerial show in the game for a reason, but what could it be? Kotaku explains that the most popular theory is that the comets/meteors will strike the map and blow up Tilted Towers, an idea that has been circulating (as these things do) around Reddit.
While Kotaku’s excellent Patricia Hernandez isn’t convinced this will actually be the case, it’s at least possible simply because it’s in keeping in the spirit of what Epic Games has done with Fortnite so far. If they want to make changes to an area of the map, sure, they can just do it in a patch and that’s that. It’s what most devs would do for most games.
Next: Yes, someone started a petition to get rid of Fortnite
Fortnite marches to its own drummer, though, so it’s not a stretch at all to think that in some random matches at a specific time, comets will just descend and wipe Titled Towers right off the map. Keep your eyes to the skies in the meantime.
