Try to love life as much as Francisco Lindor loves baseball
The Cleveland Indians played the Minnesota Twins last night in Puerto Rico and shortstop Francisco Lindor had an absolute blast.
Last night was the first game in the series between the Cleveland Indians and the Minnesota Twins but this was far from a run of the mill series on a Tuesday night in April. The series is being played in Puerto Rico and that’s special on any given day. It’s carrying added weight for people who have survived Hurricane Maria and the aftermath of that terrible storm. Many were also looking forward to seeing Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor play in his home, as he’s from Puerto Rico. Lindor gave them a moment that nobody will soon forget.
This is the type of thing that makes sports so wonderful. The look of pure joy on Lindor’s face will be etched in sports lore forever. It clearly meant so much to him to have this moment after so many years of hard work and he made sure to convey just that after the game –
"I’m in Puerto Rico in front of my family, in front of my friends, in front of this beautiful Puerto Rican crowd,” Lindor said. “I’m just excited. I touched second base and looked in the dugout. Everybody’s hands are up, so I put my hands up. I looked around the stadium, everybody’s are up, so I keep putting my hands up and running.”"
It truly doesn’t get any better than this. Lindor is one of the more exciting young players in baseball. The moment meant so much to him, but also brought so much more to the fans who were there. They’ve been through so much that it’s great to see some happiness, even if it’s just for a moment. It will likely be one of the best home runs that Lindor ever hits and is definitely a lifetime achievement.

At the end of the day, this will always mean more to the Puerto Rican fans and Lindor. It reminds us why we love sports so much and hopefully it gives fans a great memory for the rest of their lives. It also serves to remind us the power that sports can have, even if they only help us escape for a moment.
