With the Iowa football spring game set to take place, a look at how to watch it online.
The 2018 college football season remains far away, but spring gridiron is in full swing. It is early preparation for the fall, with programs attempting to find players to hold down key positions, fill out depth charts and map out schemes. Among these schools is Iowa, who will play its spring game on Friday, April 20 at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, IA.
In 2017, Iowa football finished 8-5, with a 4-5 record in the Big Ten. This was far behind Wisconsin and Northwestern in the Big Ten West, so it will be something head coach Kirk Ferentz attempts to improve on in 2018.
The Hawkeye are set at quarterback, as Nate Stanley will return for another season. After him, however, questions remain on offense.
The running back core is limited and inexperienced. Ivory Kelly-Martin and Toren Young might have the most reps of the bunch, despite playing backup roles in 2017. They may see the brunt of the carries in the spring game, while Kyshaun Bryan in the mix, as well. The leader of this pack should come to the forefront on Friday evening and provide clarity on what Ferentz will do in the backfield.
With Josy Jewell and most of Iowa’s linebacker depth gone, attention will turn to who replaces them. Which players from the program will step up to retain this team’s defensive reputation?
