1. Nebraska

After the comments from Hurts’ father surfaced, Nebraska surfaced as a potential transfer destination for Hurts. The Big Ten looks like an odd fit for him overall, but there’s reason to see Nebraska as a very good spot.

After an undefeated second season at UCF, Scott Frost has returned to Nebraska to try to turnaround the program as head coach. With Frost will also come a modern college offense, which just helped a quarterback have a great season in 2017.

As a sophomore last year, UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton finished top-10 in the country in passing yards (4,037; seventh), passing touchdowns (37; tied for fourth), completion percentage (67.1 percent; sixth) and passer rating (179.3; second). He also rushed for 613 yards and eight more scores, as the perfect pilot for Frost’s offense.

Hurts is probably a better running threat than Milton. Working with Frost and offensive coordinator Troy Walters, who also came from UCF, could unleash Hurts in a way Alabama’s system could not.

With 2017 starter Tanner Lee gone to the NFL, the Cornhuskers have an experience issue under center this year. Hurts can’t help with that if he decides to come to Lincoln, but he would clearly be the guy in 2019 if he keeps all his options open.
