Fortunately, Owen Larson is too cute to ever get mad at, even when he’s unwittingly rubbing his dad’s nose in a touch second-place finish.
We’re not sure if Kyle Larson is a fan of Skittles or not, but he could be excused if he never heard of the candy again after the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Larson was leading the race with less than 10 laps to go when the Skittles car, driven by Kyle Busch nudged him out of the way and went on to victory.
Of course, Busch’s No. 18 is almost always sponsored by candy of some sort — M&M’s more often than not — but the bright red Skittles paint scheme is especially eye-catching and hard to forget. That’s even more true when you’re only three years old, like, say, Larson’s adorable son Owen.
USA Today‘s For The Win passes along the story of how Owen unknowingly trolled his own dad after he was clearly discouraged by coming up short to Busch, and it’s one that can’t help but make you grin.

It’s great to hear that Larson took that innocent jab in stride. It should also be noted that Busch sows the seeds for this kind of thing by being a tireless candy ambassador for the brands he represents, even passing out autographed bags of candy to young fans at random on race weekends.
Next: Should NASCAR have considered giving fans refunds for Bristol?
Larson and Busch will go head to head again this weekend on another short track, and if it comes down to a similar situation, you can expect that the exact same thing could very well go down again. Busch’s car will be sporting M&M’s colors this time, though, so if Owen asks for those after this one, then we’ll know something really is up.
