25 TV Dads that would make elite MLB managers
Alan Matthews
Alan Matthews once woke his son up on a school night so he could watch a Phillies no-hitter with him. If that’s not “Father of the Year” parenting, I don’t know what is.
My friend suggested to me that Chet Hunter would make for an elite MLB manager. That’s simply not true. Chet would make for a decent MLB manager for about half the season. Then, he’d leave the team without warning and Alan would have to takeover anyway.
Matthews raised four kids, although the job he did with Morgan is questionable. I think he was so afraid of her dating boys like his sons that he just locked her in the closet during her teenage years. There’s no other explanation.
Not only did Matthews raise four kids, he helped raise a son that wasn’t his. He was forced to take in Shawn Hunter, and while he complained, he still put up with him. Despite Shawn being a bad influence on his son, he still put up with him.
No other dad had it tougher than Alan. He lived next to his sons teacher. The same teacher who followed his son like some sort of crazy stalker. And not once did he threaten to move or question why this man kept showing up in his sons classroom.
Best Fit: Los Angeles Angels
Alan deserves to go to a good team. The Angels haven’t won a playoff game since 2009, but their roster is as talented as any roster in baseball. At some point, Mike Scioscia has to be held accountable.
Put Matthews as the manager in Los Angeles and wins will follow. And don’t worry about the attention starved Dodgers across the way. Alan is used to deal with nosey neighbors.
