Catcher/First Base, High End Spend

Freddie Freeman, $4,100

.500/.667/.857 with 1 HR in 14 at-bats

When Atlanta gets to face almost any righty, Freeman needs to be in the discussion. He’s owned opposing starter Zach Wheeler and even if you don’t buy into the BvP data, Freeman destroys right handed pitching. A .302 batting average combined with a .919 OPS, .226 ISO and a .390 wOBA are quite ridiculous. Freeman is one of the better hitters in all of baseball and Wheeler has surrendered a .339 wOBA to lefty hitters through his career.

Also Consider – Miguel Cabrera, $3,800

Mid-Range

Tyler Austin, $3,400

N/A

The Yankees are in a potentially smash spot today when they square off against Blue Jays starter Jaime Garcia. His 2018 does not look like anything else in his career as he’s giving up a lot of fly balls and a ton of hard contact. Many players will gravitate towards to big name Yankees and Austin represents a chance to get a piece of the offense at a reasonable price. His track record is very limited but he’s smashed lefties at the big league level. He’s racked up a .340 average, 1.045 OPS, .283 ISO and a .433 wOBA. He got the day off Saturday so he should be safely in the lineup this afternoon.

Also Consider – Justin Bour, $3,300

Value

James McCann, $2,600

N/A

The Royals are throwing Eric Skoglund tomorrow which means you’re likely going to want to have a Tiger or two in your lineup. He’s flat out awful and one way to get a part of the Detroit offense could be McCann. Check to make sure he’s in the lineup but McCann has great numbers against lefties, to the tune of .292 average, .903 OPS, .259 ISO and a .382 wOBA. This numbers are very good on their own and they’re even more appealing at such a low price tag. Especially if you’re planning on paying Kluber, McCann is a great way to help pay that salary.
