NBA Playoffs 2018: Houston Rockets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Game 4 live stream: Watch online
By Jason Patt
The Minnesota Timberwolves came home and took it to the Houston Rockets in Game 3, giving the Wolves a chance to tie up the series in Monday’s Game 4.
The Minnesota Timberwolves had lost all six games against the Houston Rockets this season prior to Game 3, but the Wolves finally broke through on Saturday with a 121-105 victory. With the series now at 2-1 in favor of the Rockets, Minnesota will try to tie things up when the two teams clash in Game 4.
The Wolves’ two All-Stars finally showed up to the series in Game 3. Jimmy Butler and Karl-Anthony Towns combined for just 37 points in the first two games in Houston, but Butler exploded for 28 points, seven rebounds and five assists on Saturday. Towns added 18 points, 16 rebounds and three assists in the victory.
Butler and Towns got plenty of help from fellow starters Jeff Teague and Andrew Wiggins. Teague notched 23 points and eight assists, while Wiggins went for 20 points, five rebounds and five assists. Derrick Rose pitched in with 17 points on 8-of-16 shooting off the bench.
Minnesota, a typically poor 3-point shooting team, made 15 triples in Game 3 to match Houston’s 15 long-distance bombs. The Wolves made only 13 3-pointers in Games 1 and 2 combined.
James Harden bounced back from his awful Game 2 shooting performance to record 29 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, but it wasn’t nearly enough. The Rockets’ bench got roasted by Rose and Co., even though Ryan Anderson returned from an ankle injury and buried four 3-pointers.
Houston’s offense has been mediocre thus far in this series after being historically good during the regular season. The Rockets will need to find another gear if they’re going to be a serious championship contender.

The Wolves’ 15 3-pointers on 55.6 percent shooting was an anomaly, so they’ll likely have to figure out a way to beat the Rockets in Game 4 without an elite 3-point shooting performance. Houston will surely put forth a better overall effort after Saturday’s dud, but if Minnesota’s best players show up again, it could be a dogfight.
