Shortstop, High End Spend

Manny Machado, $4,700

.200/.182/.300 with 0 HR in 10 at-bats

Machado might be one of the hottest hitters in all of baseball and he’s interesting again tonight as Jacob Faria has been up and down as a pitcher. Let’s not forget, Macahdo just took Corey Kluber deep twice on Sunday. He’s seeing beach balls at the plate right now and it wouldn’t be surprising if he leaves the yard again. The Baltimore shortstop is destroying righty pitching so far this season with an average of .369, an OPS of 1.130 and a wOBA of .477. Trevor Story is going to be chalk on this slate since he’s in Coors against a lefty. He’s a wonderful play as well, but don’t look past Machado.

Also Consider – Trevor Story, $4,100

Mid-Range

Tim Anderson, $3,100

N/A

One thing that Anderson has done well consistently through his career is smack around lefty pitching. His career marks against lefties include a .322 average, a .824 OPS and a .351 wOBA. His had contact rate jumps to over 33 percent and the lefty he’s facing isn’t good at all. He and Abreu both are reasons to play the all day slate and Anderson is in a spot to go nuts today. Don’t forget that the Seattle bullpen is tased after they got smoked yesterday.

Also Consider – Freddy Galvis, $3,300 and Corey Seager, $3,500

Value

Amed Rosario, $2,500

.500/.500/.500 with 0 HR in 2 at-bats

Shortstop will almost certainly be a position I spend a decent chunk on tonight but if you decide to not go that route, Rosario could be interesting. He draws Luke Weaver on the mound and I’m fairly certain Weaver is still giving up runs and hits to the Cubs from his last outing. Rosario is still finding his way at the big league level but he doesn’t really have any stark splits that we need to worry about tonight.

Also Consider – Brandon Crawford, $2,100
