San Francisco Giants: Trade for Daniel Mengden

The San Francisco Giants have suffered some tough injuries already this season, but none bigger than what happened right at the end of Spring Training. Star starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner took a liner back to his wrist, which just happened to be the wrist on his throwing arm.

Through the first 19 games, the loss of Bumgarner has been devastating, as the team has won only eight games. They lack leadership at the top of the rotation, and they must be counting the days until MadBum makes his return to pitching every fifth day.

In addition to Bumgarner, guys like Jeff Samardzija and Johnny Cueto are also on the disabled list, leaving them quite short in the rotation. The team should look across the bay for some help in that department, and bring in a pitcher like Daniel Mengden from the Oakland Athletics.

Mengden is mostly known for his tremendous mustache, which is reminiscent of Rollie Fingers. However, he has also done a nice job on the mound this season for the A’s, who are likely slated for the bottom of the AL West again in 2018.

He would be a nice addition to this rotation, and could actually be the No. 3 or 4 starter once they get all their arms back. They have fallen into a hole to start the year, and Mengden could help seal the leak at least every fifth day.
