Washington Nationals: Trade for Darren O’Day

The Washington Nationals are one of the best teams in baseball, and they should be right in the running to represent the National League in the World Series this season. Star outfield Bryce Harper is off to a fast start, and they recently took two of three from the New York Mets.

While the NL East is certain to go down to the wire, the Nationals are going to need some more help in their bullpen. The starting rotation is pretty deep from 1-to-5, but the bullpen needs some extra arms in their quest to get to Sean Doolittle at the end of games.

Enter Darren O’Day, who could make the short trip over from Baltimore to our Nation’s Capital. O’Day has struck out better than a batter per inning for the Orioles this season, and recently picked up his first save of the year.

The Orioles are not going anywhere this season, and getting some prospects for O’Day may be the way to go. With the Nationals, O’Day and his sidewinder delivery would give teams a different arm angle to try to look at late in games.

The Nationals have the talent to make a serious run, and while Doolittle is solid as their closer, the bullpen can be worrisome at times.
