The Miami Dolphins stripped down their team to some degree this winter, hoping to change the culture and bring about their first playoff win in nearly two decades. General manager Chris Grier was able to acquire Robert Quinn from the Los Angeles Rams, but he also released Ndamukong Suh and traded Jarvis Landry to the Cleveland Browns.
Now, Miami has the option here of either selecting Josh Rosen or going another direction. Rosen might be the best pure passer in the rookie class, but the Dolphins already have a capable start in Ryan Tannehill and a bevy of holes elsewhere. With Minkah Fitzpatrick sliding out of the top 10, Miami would be foolish to pass up his talents.
Reshad Jones would welcome Fitzpatrick into a talent-starved secondary, with the versatility to play both safety and cornerback. The former Crimson Tide star was named an All-American last year, playing on the best defense in the country. He would come in and immediately start for head coach Adam Gase, who is likely on the hot seat after a 6-10 finish a year ago.
If the Dolphins are ever going to get some traction in the AFC East, they simply need to add talent to this roster. Fitzpatrick would be a great get and someone who can help from the jump.
