The Minnesota Vikings had a terrific run in 2017, as they made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game. The most impressive part about that was the fact that they did it with Case Keenum as their starting quarterback. Keenum took over the position when Sam Bradford injured his knee, and was forced to lead the team with star running back Dalvin Cook also on the sideline with an injured knee as well.
Entering 2018, Keenum has moved on to Denver, and has been replaced with former Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins. Cousins can certainly pit up big numbers, but he is going to need some more bodies on the offensive line. One area the Vikings should target is offensive guard, where they could swoop in and select Will Hernandez from UTEP with pick No. 30 in the first round on Thursday.
Hernandez is going to be a solid player at the next level, as he has the physical attributes you look for in an offensive guard. He has great feet, and his strength is matched by very few in this draft class. He is going to be a guy who can be starter in this league for the next ten years at least, and in Minnesota, fixing the offensive line is going toĀ be the difference in this team taking the next step in 2018.
