FanDuel MLB Lineup and Picks for Wednesday, April 25
Shortstop, High End Spend
Paul DeJong, $4,300
1.000/1.000/3.000 with 2 HRs in 3 at-bats
DeJong is super interesting tonight. He’s red-hot, scoring at least 9 FanDuel points in his last six games. His track record agains lefties isn’t large but he smashed them in 2017 to the tune of a .952 OPS, .313 ISO and a .393 wOBA. He hasn’t had the same luck in 17 plate appearances so far in 2018, but that’s a very small sample size. We’ve already touched on what Matz has done against righties and DeJong is really pricey, but could still pay it off tonight.
Also Consider – Manny Machado, $4,600
Mid-Range
Corey Seager, $3,400
N/A
Another lefty bat for the Dodgers that is firmly in play tonight is Seager — he’s on the right side of his splits. He hasn’t looked like himself so far in 2018 abut a mediocre righty could shake him out of his slumber. Even in his lesser form, Seager still has an above-average batting average and wOBA. He’s bound to get back towards his career marks sooner rather than later as he’s still a young guy. The other nice thing is Seager isn’t striking out as much as he has in his career, which means he’s at least putting balls in play. He’s making hard contact around 36 percent of the time so hits are due to come for the Dodger shortstop.
Also Consider – Jurickson Profar, $3,000
Value
The value portion of shortstop is pretty heinous tonight. You could make a case for Amed Rosario as opposing starter Michael Wacha just hasn’t been very good so far this season. This could be a case of “we’ll wait until lineup cards get handed out.” Maybe someone pops at the top of a lineup that’s cheap. It could be a position that makes sense to spend a little bit and take the value elsewhere.
