Michael Jordan forgave Ron Artest for breaking his ribs
By Dave Daniels
Michael Jordan was a baller in the truest sense, and he respected Ron Artest as well.
A new book called No Malice by Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, is making waves this week. The story that Artest broke Michael Jordan’s ribs during a pickup game is old news, but the fact that Jordan scored the deciding shot during that match is legendary.
Here is an excerpt from Artest’s writing published by Triumph Books.
The fact that Jordan drained a game-winning shot moments after fracturing a rib is astonishing. It was also cool of him to make Artest feel better a few days later by saying that it was all good between them. That is the sign of a true competitor.
Jordan is the best player to ever pick up a basketball, and Artest is one of the most interesting. It was probably one of the strangest pickup games of all time, but it is fun to know more details about it.
Jordan is currently the owner of the Charlotte Hornets. His team isn’t a threat at the moment, but you never know what can happen with the right draft pick.
Artest could have been the Dennis Rodman for MJ in a different era, and it’s not surprising that those guys have respect for each other. There is no back down in either of them.
The book comes out on May 15, and you can pre-order it here.
Jordan hasn’t been in the news as of late, because the Hornets haven’t been relevant. Their only real chance is to draft a superstar. There aren’t many free agents dying to move to Charlotte, and that’s just the way it is.

Jordan might even think of lacing them up again next season if the Hornets keep playing like this. Maybe he’ll even sign Artest and get a movement of older players coming back into the league.
