Didi Gregorius is on a tear for the Yankees and the fans are showing the love.
There may not be a better place in the world than New York when you are an athlete on top of your game. Yankees star Didi Gregorius is finding that out at the moment due to his stellar play.
The former Diamondbacks shortstop has found a real groove for the Yankees the season. He’s got his batting average all the way up to .364 after garnering two hits in his first two at bats against the Twins tonight. Gregorius’ home run in the third inning was particularly exciting for Yankees fans tuning in across the country.
You certainly wouldn’t have backed Gregorius to be the team’s most prolific slugger heading into the year. Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Gary Sanchez all entered the campaign with more fan fare. No one has played better than Gregorius to start the year for Aaron Boone’s team.
In fact, Gregorius is already setting some records.
Didi Gregorius is 1st shortstop in MLB history with at least 8 HR and 27 RBI in team's 1st 22 games.

Didi Gregorius has homered in a career-best four straight games. And it's five straight against the Twins, including last year’s Wild Card Game.

Some fans might be getting a little ahead of themselves though. After all, the idea of awarding Gregorius the MVP in April seems a bit premature.
Other fans and news outlets are more concerned with how the shortstop compares to his peers around MLB.

Don’t hate me, but Didi Gregorius is achieving Jeter status with the fans.

I do not regret this tweet.
Didi Gregorius is not human. UNREAL.

The important thing is that no fans are going to make any life altering, permanent decisions about the player’s hot start.
My first born child will be named Didi Gregorius.

The real important thing is that Gregorius is finally starting to receive the media attention he deserves. The Yankees star is proving people wrong all over social media.
