The Arizona Cardinals selected Josh Rosen with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Here’s all you need to know about Rosen, including our grade.
The Arizona Cardinals did in fact move up to get their next franchise quarterback. Arizona moved up from No. 15 to No. 10 in a deal with the Oakland Raiders. The Cardinals were able to land possibly the most polished quarterback in this draft class in Josh Rosen of the UCLA Bruins.
Strengths
Tall with a little bit of a slender frame but plenty of room to put on some bulk. Fluid release with good arm mechanics. Functional mobility and can make some plays with his legs. Even as a freshman had polish and poise. Has good subtle movement skills within the pocket. Really spins the ball and has plenty of arm strength to drive it outside the numbers. Excels throwing fade stops. Shows ability to make “wow” throws.
Can change speeds and shows good touch on throws that require it. Will make throws with anticipation and willing to fit it into tight windows. He’ll stand in and make a throw with pressure in his face. Doesn’t need a guy to be wide open to be open. Not afraid to attack the middle of the field.

Weaknesses
Tends to eye up receivers and will wait and wait to make a throw. Trusts his arm and will throw into coverage (this is a strength as well). When he gets pressured, he tries to make throws from his tip toes. Wants to keep everything alive which leads to over-aggressiveness and unnecessary risk. Ball placement can be inconsistent at times.
Struggles when he has to reset and make throws. He dealt with coaching turmoil and turnover during his time and his junior season didn’t have the talent around him to really thrive. Attitude allegedly rubs some people the wrong way.
Grade
Arizona found a great trading partner in Oakland and didn’t have to give up the farm to get a potential superstar in Rosen. He could start day one, but will likely backup Sam Bradford at least right away. Arizona got a whole lot more interesting with this pick. This section was simply outstanding.
Grade: A+
