The Europa League resumes on Thursday with the first leg of the semifinal kicking off. Arsenal host Atletico Madrid at Emirates Stadium. Arsenal are sixth in the Premier League and need to win the Europa League if they are going to qualify for Champions League next season. While Atletico Madrid are second in La Liga.

Arsene Wenger announced that he will leave Arsenal at the end of the season, ending a 22 year run with the club. The French manager would like to leave the club by winning a trophy in his final season. The Gunners have four of their last five games in the Premier League and advanced to the semifinal after beating CSKA Moscow in the quarterfinal. Arsenal will rely on Alexandre Lacazette to break down Atletico’s defense. The French striker scored two goals over the weekend and has 15 goals in all competitions. Aaron Ramsey has had a very good season, controlling play in midfield, creating goals. The Welsh midfielder has scored 11 goals and has 11 assists in all competitions this season.

Atletico Madrid are looking to advance to their third Europa League final in club history. Atleti won the competition in 2010 and 2012. Diego Simeone’s side eliminated Sporting in the quarterfinals. Since the beginning of March, Atletico have won only six of 12 games in all competitions. Simeone decided to rest several starters against Real Betis on Sunday, settling for a scoreless draw. The extra rest will help Koke, Antoine Griezmann, Diego Godin and Sime Vrsaljko, who will all likely start on Thursday. Diego Costa is at risk of missing the first leg with a hamstring injury. If Costa is unable to play, Kevin Gameiro will likely start next to Griezmann in Simeone’s front two.
