1. The Seahawks trade safety Earl Thomas to acquire more draft picks

Remember, the draft doesn’t limit teams to trading draft picks for more draft picks. Players can, but don’t frequently, enter the equation, as well, and Day 1 would be a perfect opportunity for Seattle to try and move Earl Thomas to bolster their collection of selections.

Thomas is one of the last remaining vestiges of the Legion of Boom, which has been rapidly dismantled. But the ugly truth of the matter is that Thomas is set to become a free agent next year and it’s highly likely he goes looking for greener pastures, so the Seahawks may as well try to get something for him now while they can. As for interested parties, Thomas, a Texas native, now infamously told Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett that if Dallas had the chance it should “come get” him, so that’s something to keep an eye on.

The Seahwaks only have eight selections this year, and after their No. 18 pick in Round 1 they won’t be on the clock again until Round 4. Given that reality, it may not take as much as one might think for a team to acquire Thomas, especially if the selections on the table get Seattle back in business on Day 2.
