The Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins renew their rivalry in the NHL playoffs. Here’s the schedule and how you can watch and stream every game.

The Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins renew their rivalry in the second round of the NHL playoffs. While the two teams have met in the playoffs 10 times, the outcome has been decisively one-sided. Pittsburgh has won nine of 10 series and eliminated Washington in the last two season. In their five Stanley Cup winning season, the Penguins have eliminated the Capitals in the playoffs.

Washington advanced to the second round of the playoffs after eliminating the Columbus Blue Jackets in six games. After losing two straight games at home to start the series, the Capitals won four straight games, after switching from Philipp Graubauer to Braden Holtby in goal.  Holtby was great in four games, posting a .932 save percentage. The Capitals’ goalie will have to continue his strong play if Washington is going to eliminate Pittsburgh. Offensively, Washington will again lean on the core of Alexander Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom and Evgeny Kuznetsov. All three forwards recorded eight points against Columbus.

Pittsburgh eliminated their cross-state rivals, the Philadelphia Flyers in six games. The Penguins exploded offensively in the series, scoring 28 goals in six games. Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel both had 13 points against the Flyers. Guentzel closed out the series with four goals in Game 6. The Penguins will lean heavily on the Crosby and Guentzel line early in the series as Evgeni Malkin is expected to miss at least the first game of the series. With Malkin out, Derick Brassard and Phil Kessel have to pick up more of the slack. Matt Murray had an up and down series in goal for Pittsburgh. Murray posted two shutouts but had only a .911 save percentage.
