38. . F. Missouri. Michael Porter Jr.. 5. player

After weeks of tinkering with the Magic slot, fluctuating between Mo Bamba, Marvin Bagley and Porter, I think I’ve settled onto Porter as the best option for Orlando. Porter allows the team to re-sign and sic Aaron Gordon onto mismatch after mismatch while also increasing the versatility of the team as a whole.

That versatility is already somewhat in place for Orlando, but what’s missing is scoring, and it’s not often you find someone who can help in both areas. Porter can fill so many roles, similar to what we’ve seen from Jayson Tatum this year as the Celtics’ roster has come undone and been mended a dozen times each. The freshman is a floor-spacer who can freelance as a mismatch attacker when the right stuff unfurls from the defense. In the post and driving to the basket, Porter generally has an advantage one way or another.

Living in Phoenix, I imagine often what it might look like if the Suns are able to pair Devin Booker and Josh Jackson with Luka Doncic to create an all-everything lineup. This hypothetical new Magic team would include Porter, Gordon and Jonathan Isaac and provide similar identity  crises for teams not ready.
