The first round of the 2018 NFL Draft is in the books, but there are still plenty of impact players available for Day 2. These five, in particular, are ones to keep an eye in your fantasy drafts this summer

It’s never too early to start thinking about your fantasy football draft, and savvy owners pay close attention to potential future playmakers in the NFL Draft — especially if said owners play in dynasty leagues.

One of the most interesting storylines to emerge from Round 1 was how many offensive playmakers found themselves falling down the draft board as teams prioritized bolstering their defenses and offensive lines. Heading into the second round, names such as LSU running back Derrius Guice, SMU wideout Courtland Sutton and Penn State tight end Mike Gesicki — all expected to come off the board in Round 1 — are still available.

Fantasy owners, listen up. These five players are ones to keep an eye on in Round 2 as you plan out your drafts later this summer.

5. Dallas Goedert, TE, South Dakota State

Heading into Round 1 of the NFL Draft, almost every mock you found had South Dakota State tight end Dallas Goedert off the board for sure by the New Orleans Saints’ pick at No. 27, if not earlier to the Baltimore Ravens at No. 16. It seemed unlikely, even, that he’d be there for the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 29.

Yet on Day 2, here we are; the clock has yet to run on the 33rd overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft and Godert is one of the biggest names yet to be drafted.

At six-foot-five and 256 pounds with sizable 10 1/4″ mitts, Goedert has all the size you could desire from the position. And he proved he knows how to use it, with his production coming in the top 15 in the FCS in his junior year: 92 catches, 1,293 yards and 11 touchdowns. Last season, his numbers were down but only slightly: 72 receptions for 1,111 yards and seven touchdowns.

NFL teams and fantasy owners alike will want to see Goedert prove that his skills can carry over against NFL-caliber defenses unlike the ones he faced with the Jackrabbits. But Goedert is definitely worth a look in rookie drafts, dynasty leagues and the mid-rounds of standard leagues.
