You kind of know it’s coming, but you just don’t want it to happen. Here’s a list of everyone who dies in Avengers: Infinity War, courtesy of Thanos.

Before we continue, let it be known that this post will contain spoilers. Prior to entering Avengers: Infinity War, if you’ve read the comic book arc, then you have an idea of what to expect. Of course, the Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t follow those stories word for word, but the creators definitely use a ton of that material. With that being said, let’s talk about everyone who dies.

At the very beginning of the movie, you see Thanos and his team, the Black Order (or the Children of Thanos), board the ship where Thor, Loki, and the Hulk are keeping the people of Asgard after their home planet was destroyed in Thor: Ragnarok. Basically, everyone on the ship is dead except Thor, Loki, Heimdall and Hulk. After Loki plays some of his mind tricks, he distracts Thanos and unleashes Hulk on him. At first, Hulk seems like he’s having some success for the first couple of seconds. It doesn’t take long for Thanos to have his way, though. He completely wrecks him.

A downed Hulk is then sent to Earth, courtesy of Heimdall. Seeing this, Thanos kills Heimdall. Then, he kills Loki right in front of Thor’s eyes after Loki tries to kill him. This is only the beginning, unfortunately, and it happens in the first 10 minutes of the film.

Thanos later visits the Collector, who’s the keeper of the Reality Stone. We don’t need to tell you what happens there, but just because, Thanos also kills him.

When Thanos is searching for the Soul Stone, he encounters Red Skull, who’s the keeper of the Soul Stone, on the planet Vormir. Red Skull explains to him that the only way he can obtain the Soul Stone is by sacrificing someone he loves. Being there with Gamora, and with tears in his eyes, he reluctantly throws Gamora to her death.

The last person he kills through his own will and power is Vision. This was the most predictable death since Vision has the Mind Stone engraved in his skull, which is the source of his power. He literally rips it out of his head, and Vision’s lifeless body falls to the ground.

At the end of the film, Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet is complete with all six Infinity Stones. As he places the Mind Stone into the gauntlet, Thor comes crashing from the sky and impales him with the Stormbreaker. Though he thinks he has Thanos beat, the Mad Titan snaps his fingers and teleports away shortly after.

Much like the comic book, once he snapped his finger, beings across the universe begin to deteriorate and cease to exist. Here’s the full list of everyone who dies because of this:

  • Black Panther
  • Spider-Man
  • Doctor Strange
  • Star-Lord
  • Scarlet Witch
  • Falcon
  • Bucky Barnes
  • Groot
  • Drax
  • Mantis
  • Nick Fury and Maria Hill (both are seen deteriorating in the post-credits scene)

There are some others who didn’t die at the hands of Thanos, and those happen to be his henchmen. We’re pretty sure Ebony Maw is dead, but there’s a possibility he’s still alive. He was sent into outer space after being sucked out through a hole in a ship, courtesy of Iron Man and Spider-Man. The others, Cull Obsidian, Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive, all die in the big battle in Wakanda.

Next: Infinity War has an important post-credits scene

After seeing this, we aren’t sure what to expect from Avengers 4. We aren’t sure whether or not any of them will come back to life, but we sure hope so.
